Zaid Ibrahim is at it again. The former Umno, PKR, Kita and DAP man has recently invented himself as a spokesperson for PAS.

“Those who are using scare tactics against PAS, it will not work. PAS will not be able to create an Islamic state, ala Ayatollah Vellayatulfiqah model.

“The Malay Rulers were put there as the Head of Islam for a reason

“Second, the country has a secular Constitution with a well-established framework. Only an armed revolution can change this. PAS is like any other party in the country with no desire for an armed revolution

“Our Highest courts have always reaffirmed the country as a constitutional democracy, starting with Tun Salleh Abas,” he said in a post today.

Perhaps he has forgotten what happened to Salleh Abas who was dismissed as Lord President of the Suprem Court during the 1988 judicial crisis under Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s rule.

Perhaps he has forgotten that Iran and Afghanistan once also had royals, a liberal outlook, progressive intelligentsia and a secular constitution.

Perhaps he is choosing to ignore Hadi Awang’s defence of Talibanism and meetings with their envoys.

Perhaps he has neglected PAS’s preference for replacing the secular constitution with syariah law?

Maybe he wasn’t personally affected when Hadi claimed that corruption in Malaysia is largely the fault of non-Muslims?

Probably he doesn’t take it personally when PAS throws labels like kafir and haram at loyal Malaysian citizens.

This must be why Zaid and other apologising claim it is merely scare tactics and not a looming disaster if PAS ever takes full federal power.

He also blindly ignores the terrible economic performance of backward states under PAS government.

Zaid has a fickle record, even suing Zaid Ibrahim the law firm, and representing jailed prime minister Najib. It’s no surprise he wants to trick people into letting their guard down against PAS.
