Shahidan Kassim’s Plot To Unseat Perlis MB Gathering Pace

Despite his denials, it is very clear that former Perlis Menteri Besar Shahidan Kassim is leading a move to depose the incumbent Mohd Shukri Ramli.

Now in PAS, Shahidan previously served as Perlis MB from 1995 to 2008 while in Umno. A dominant figure in the state for over 30 years, he is anxious to seize the top post.

It is learnt that PAS will hold a meeting in the KL to discuss the leadership crisis in the state.

Shukri is alleged to have lost the majority support and confidence of state assemblymen, with eight PN assemblymen submitting statutory declarations to the Raja of Perlis declaring that they no longer back Shukri.

Five are from Bersatu – Abu Bakar Hamzah (Kuala Perlis), Izizam Ibrahim (Titi Tinggi), Megat Hashirat Hassan (Pauh), Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak (Tambun Tulang) and Marzita Mansor (Sena).

Three others are from PAS – Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong) and Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji).

Shahidan recently replaced Shukri as the state PN chief and clearly is getting impatient to topple him as MB too.

To compound matters Shukri was recently admitted to IJN with chest pains.

Two months ago he said he was ready to cooperate with police over a probe into an audio recording featuring a state political leader allegedly criticising the Perlis Royal Family.

Last year, Shukri’s son and four others were investigated over the alleged falsification of documents related to claims for infrastructure projects worth RM600,000.
